Faces Places Reaction

 1. Prior to watching Faces Places I had never heard of Agnès Varda or JR.

2.  I feel that this film revolves around the working class for a majority of the time because it helps the viewers relate to the film if they see people in situations similar to them.

3. When I think of Varda and JR's connection through shared interest in sharing and taking pictures, I think of times that my family and I will all take pictures on vacation and it's interesting to see how each person perceived the places we saw through our pictures.

4.  I feel like public art is really nice, I think that it can really help make a community more beautiful by using what was already there and just accenting it.

5. I feel like I connect with Varda more because I feel like we both have a very open and free spirit, but we are honest about the things around us.

6.  The way that the film uses images to conjure memories really resonated with me because I believe that all pictures hold a specific memory and place in time, and to see pictures used this way really helped show the significance of those moments.

7. Throughout the film Varda is very honest about her advancing in age. I think that this is refreshing because I feel like a lot of people don't embrace the fact that they are getting older.

8. I think that because of how much JR protested to take off his glasses, when he did it really helped show Varda that he cares for her and that he will be there to cheer her up when she needs him.

9. I think that these seamless transitions in this film are achieved by transitioning with topics that are similar enough that the viewer wouldn't be confused when the transitions happened.

10. The most Memorable part of Faces Places in my opinion was, after JR put the picture of her feet on the train and someone asked her "what was the point" and she says "the power of imagination". that part really stuck with me because it really helped me realize that anything can become a work of art if you see the potential in it.
